SERVICE INCREASES OUR LOVE

September 4, 2016
Family,

Tang JM and Yoyo came to church! Incredible. My comp and I fasted yesterday that those we are teaching will embrace the truth and that they would come to church. They came for the first time ever. Also Tang JM wants to be baptized. This week we should have a date. She didn't want to set one with her husband gone. He is in Thailand right now. Focusing on the son is working. He loves primary and didn't want to leave on Sunday.

Zhou JM is having some issues with some of the commandments.

Li Jm has changed a lot since the last lesson we taught with her. We met with her after church and she shared with us what she has been learning from reading the scriptures. She shared with us how the scripture made her reflect on her relationship with her son and maybe some things she could change to be a better mother. Amazing. It was a wonderful testimony. She also asked us how many more lessons she needs to be taught before she is baptized and what the qualifications are. We showed her a teaching record and read Doctrine and Covenants 20:37 with her to help her get a clear picture and see the expectations. She is excited for her date.

There was a Mandarin FHE last night. Since it is about time for the Mid-Autumn Festival, we bought a bunch of moon cakes for the activity. We had about 1 moon cake for every person, but they ended up cutting them up into fourths and splitting them, so we have a ton of leftover moon cakes. That's no problem though. I love moon cakes.

We had Zone Conference this week. A few thoughts that stuck out to me were 1. If a door doesn't close, another door can't open. 2. It is very important to show sincere love, get to know them, and be genuine. I struggle with this. 3. Sacrifice generates faith.

One quick thought from my personal study yesterday morning. I was reading in John 13:8 and it really stuck out to "Peter saith unto him, Thou needest not to wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, though hast no part with me." I think I need to a better job of letting people serve me. A lot of the time I oppose that thinking I don't want to bug them or cause them extra trouble. Instead, I should graciously accept service. It is an opportunity for them to increase in love. When we serve others, we come to love them more. The gospel is all about service. I shouldn't be denying another person a opportunity to live the gospel. I then turned to the service section in PMG. I learned that I shouldn't deny them opportunities to serve God (Mosiah 2:17) and fulfill their baptismal covenants (Mosiah 18:8-10) and follow Jesus Christ example and become like Him. If I really love them and what what is best for them, I will humble myself and let them serve me. Anyway, that was a good lesson for me. Never considered that before.

So many other miracles this week and tender mercies that I don't have time to share. Heavenly Father sure loves us.

Have a good week!
