Family,
Can't believe it is mothers day already. Absolutely insane.
The assistants changed our area. Instead of dividing us at highway 10 they divided us by the ward boundaries, so we don't cover HSK ward or Lau Fau San area. This means that Chen DX and his son Roy are now with the other mandarin elders in the New Territories. We went over to their house last week to show the other elders where they live and turn them over. They are great. They both came to church this sunday, which was awesome. Roy still loves primary.
Really it seems like every kid we bring to church loves primary. I don't know what the primary here is doing, but they are doing a good job. Jia Jm son, A bu, loves primary. Roy Loves primary. Wang Le (investigator who came to church this sunday with his parents and son) son, yoyo, loves primary. Its great.
Zou Jm is great. The only problem is she will talk anybody's ears off. Its crazy. In our lessons, we ask her a question and then we can't get her to stop for 15 min. We try butting in a couple times, but she just bulldozes forward. Here is an example: "Me: So Zou Jm, How do you receive answers to your prayers? Zou Jm: When I pray, I just have a peaceful feelings I have a peaceful feeling when I am around you guys you guys are great thanks so much you guys are handsome (very common culturally for people to say to others) i can help you guys with the acne on your faces i have a huge book here that tells all about different plants and how they can help your skin. Me: That's great. Thank you for Zou Jm: here look at this picture. This plant is from my hometown. it is really cheap and you buy it a lot cheaper in mainland than in Hong Kong. everything is cheaper in mainland that plant is 15 dollars here but only 8 dollars in mainland i have a lot of friends back in my hometown they are awesome i will go visit them soon..." This happens often. We are trying to learn how to follow the counsel in PMG Ch 10 which tells us something like: 'Some people may tend to dominate the conversation. You need to learn how to tactfully take control of such situations.' We are still learning how to do that with Zou JM.
The bishop asked us to go visit a less active from mainland who is taking care of here dad here in hong kong. We got her address and went out trying to find it. It was harder than anticipated. After an hour and wading through thick greet forrest, we found the shack next to a few others and loads of dogs (sorry all the british people are rubbing off on me, they saw loads all the time). Anyway, we almost gave up 3 times, it was a miracle we were able to find her house and have her be home with her dad.
wang le is awesome. seriously awesome. He just has a light in his eyes and an enthusiam about the gospel that I have not found before here in Hong Kong (members excluded). His parents were here visiting for Mothers Day from Shenzhen and he brought them with his son to meet with us and show them the chapel on Thursday. It was a great meeting. The spirit was strong as we took them into the chapel, explan what happens, played a few hymns as they listened and then we talked. The mom especially liked it. Then yesterday, they all showed up to church, unexpectedly (wang le told us only he would be coming) It was awesome. They really enjoyed church. the mom told me next time she is in Hong Kong, she will definitely come to our church. After the lesson on Thursday, we handed wang le a L1 pamphlet to look over and read before our next lesson and as soon as we gave it to him, the mom held out her hand too. We couldn't give her one quick enough. Also, wangle's kid, eric/yoyo, loved loved primary.
Lately the song "If the Savior stood beside me" has been running through my mind. As we listen and think about the lyrics, this really is a good mirror to hold up as a way to look at ourselves and see how we can improve.
See you in a few hours.
Love,
Elder Josh Stratford
Chen DX. Ward mission leader for Tin Siu ward. Read his shirt.

their ward is quite big. lot bigger than the other Yuen Long Ward. In part because all the deafs on this half of Hong Kong come here for church. Bishop is bottem left in the orange, and the people on either side of me are deaf. the guy on my right taught elders quorum last week. He is a stud.
