Family,
Li JM is still on track for the 18th. She is amazing.
Had a Zone Find for the first time last week. We all went out to this new development over in the Hong Shui Kiu area. It was fun to see everyone in action. Found some mainlanders for the other elders. It was good. Also did a Street Find with the Tin Sau Ward young men and young women. It was good. Went with a young man named Neon. Speaks Mandarin pretty well.
Went to Mong Kok and got comp ties. 2 for $30 HKD. Pretty good. Elder Clark picked up a suit at Eric's.
We were walking home from an activity on Saturday and were talking to people on the way back. We said hi to this man waiting at the bus stop to head back home to Kowloon. He waved back and turned to talk to us. That never happens. Turns out this man is from Malaysia. His name is David. He has had a pretty rough life. He told us about it for probably 15-20 min and basically asked us, Why is God having me suffer this much and for so long? We bore our testimonies and tried to help him answer his question, but nothing really was helping. We decided to ask him if we could say a prayer with him. As we started to pray for our friend David, even though there were buses a few feet behind us flying past us, and making bunch of noise, the spirit enveloped us. It was very strong throughout the prayer. After the prayer, we opened our eyes and David was in tears. He then simply said, thank you. Cool experience.
Dropping most of the investigators we were teaching and doing better at asking everyone for referrals has opened some doors. Lot of miracles this week. 1. A member randomly came up to us and told us she had a friend from Mainland she wanted to introduce us to. 2. 2 Investigators told us they have friends who might want to learn about the gospel. Hopefully we will meet them this week. 3. Someone we invited to English Class actually came. That never happens. There has got to be only a handful of those during my service here. Granted she was 1 hr and 45 min late and the class was over, but she came. Luckily, we were at the chapel for a ward activity, so she came to that instead. 4. 2 people that committed to coming to a Ward Activity actually came. That also never happens. Not only that, they brought 3 friends along with them like they said they would. That actually has never happened before. Made some good friends with the ward members.
I watched this clip on Joseph Smith and WW Phelps. I loved this line from Joseph Smith, "The nearer we get to God, the more disposed we are to look with compassion on perishing souls."
Have a good week.
